Ask Shelley: Accent Colors
Q: Shelley, my living room has neutral walls with black and brown furniture. What colors could I use to make the room more exciting?
A: Choose accent colors that are exciting to you. Some colors that work well with black and brown are terra cotta, aqua, or sage green. The color palate could be lightened with touches of ivory or off white. You could use these colors in decorative pillows or art work. Another idea would be to paint one wall in a slightly lighter version of a bold accent color used in art work and accessories.
